The film alchemy

There is a magic, an alchemy of black and white analog photography, on account of its medium, the gelatine silver film, of the manner in which it will restitute the seen thing after having translated it into silver salts. I sometimes give into photographing a scene just to see what the photograph will make of it; by this I mean how the lens, the black and white, the transition to 2D (the flattening of all the planes into one), the film, the grain will transform reality. And there’s always a surprise. So there’s no reason to ever quit film photography.
